11. R18+ Computer Games A recent meeting of the States and Commonwealth Attorneys-General agreed to initiate a public consultation on whether an R18+ rating should be introduced for computer games. If this new classification is introduced, increasingly violent and disturbing games will become available in Australia and it would be naïve to think that children will not be exposed to such material, given the rising popularity of interactive entertainment.
